Since Hawai’i became a U.S. territory, Pearl Harbor has been an important U.S. Navy port. It is most remembered though, for the Japanese attack on December 7th, 1941 (“A day that will live in infamy”) that brought the United States into World War 2. Pearl Harbor is still an important U.S. Navy port to this day.
In addition to a museum and bookstore Pearl Harbor includes the following historical attractions:
— USS Arizona (BB-39) Memorial
— Battleship USS Missouri (BB-63)
— Submarine USS Bowfin (SS-287)
— Pacific Aviation Museum
Pearl Harbor is the most visited tourist attraction on the Island of O’ahu and in the entire state of Hawai’i, as well. Therefore it is best to reserve tickets with the park service prior to going to avoid having to arrive when the gates open and wait in line for the tickets that usually sell out by 8:00 or 9:00 AM. We saw the Arizona Memorial and USS Missouri during our time at Pearl Harbor and multiple pictures of each can be seen by clicking the pictures below.
