The USS Arizona Memorial sits above what remains of the Battleship Arizona (BB-39).  Within the sunk battleship are the remains of  1,102 of 1,177 sailors and marines from the Arizona who were killed when it was sunk on December 7th, 1941.  This memorial, with over 1,000,000 visitors a year, is the most visited site on O’ahu and the state of Hawai’i.
