Ko Olina

Ko Olina is a resort area west of Pearl Harbor.  It used to be a sacred place of rest for Hawaiian royalty, including King Kamehameha and his wife Ka’ahumanu.  The property was eventually acquired by Alice Campbell who called it Lili’uokalani (where heaven meets the earth).  In the 1980s it was developed into the resort complex that exists today including the following major resorts:  JW Marriot Ihilani Resort & Spa, Disney Aulani Resort & Spa, Ko Olina Beach Resort Villas, and Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club

Our hotel for this vacation was the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa.  Ihilani means heavenly spendor and it was a wonderful hotel to stay at.  We highly recomend it and found it much more peaceful and relaxing than a hotel in Wai’ki’ki would have been.  The shark, ray, and fish ponds at the hotel were almost an attraction in themselves, as shown by clicking on the picture below.
